Atlantic City blackjack variants

Spanish 21 is the only blackjack variant that we found widespread in Atlantic City. We did not find any Free Bet Blackjack tables in Atlantic City. 

All Spanish 21 tables in Atlantic City stand on soft 17. It generally takes $25 to get that rule in traditional games. However, some casinos require $50 or $100.

Bally’s

Blackjack starts at $25 at Bally’s. The eight-deck games hit soft 17, allow surrender and aces may be re-split twice. Mid-shoe entry is not permitted. For $100, This game is dealt in high limit with six decks and stands on soft 17. Spanish 21 that stands on soft 17 started at $10.

Borgata

The $10 eight-deck game is spread at dozens of tables on the Borgata casino floor. This game hits soft 17. Spanish 21 also has a $10 minimum bet. It stands on soft 17. For $25, players can get a six-deck blackjack game that stands on all 17’s. These tables are just outside of the high-limit salon entrance. For $100, it is dealt in the high-limit salon. 

Caesars

Blackjack starts at $15 at Caesars Atlantic City. Players may choose between Spanish 21 that stands on soft 17 and an eight-deck traditional blackjack game. The traditional game starts at $100 in the high-limit salon. It uses six decks and stands on all 17s. This game may be $50 during the slowest hours of the week.

Golden Nugget

We found four different types of blackjack at Golden Nugget. The lower-limit games start at $15. At that minimum bet, players may choose between Spanish 21 and an eight-deck game where aces may be re-split once. Spanish 21 stands on all 17’s. The $15 eight-deck blackjack game hits soft 17. For $25, the dealer stands on soft 17. At $50, it becomes a six-deck game in the high-limit salon. Surrender is available at the Golden Nugget high-limit tables.

Hard Rock

Blackjack at Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City starts at $15. The options at that price are eight-deck that hits soft 17 or Spanish 21 that stands on soft 17. For $25, the eight-deck game stands on soft 17. For $100, it is six decks. The $100 game is in the high-limit salon. Games allow double down before and after splitting, aces may be re-split and surrender.

Harrah’s

The eight-deck blackjack game on the floor at Harrah’s starts at $10 or $15, depending on the time of day. Spanish 21 typically has a $15 minimum bet. Both games hit soft 17. For $100, there is a six-deck game in the high-limit salon that stands on all 17’s. This game allows aces to be re-split one time.

We found three 6:5 blackjack tables in the back of a pit that is only open during peak hours. The tables were closed during our visit. These were the only 6:5 blackjack tables that we found in Atlantic City. 

Ocean Resort

Ocean Resort deals two eight-deck games. One is Spanish 21 that stands on all 17’s. It has a $15 minimum. The other is an eight-deck traditional blackjack game with surrender and aces may be re-split once. This game hits soft 17. For $25, it deals six decks and stands on all 17’s. The high-limit version of this starts at $100. It has the same rules as the $25 game. 

Resorts

Blackjack starts at $15 at Resorts. The options are eight-deck tables where one pit stands on all 17s and the other hits soft 17. There is also $15 Spanish 21 that stands on all 17’s. The high-limit game starts at $50. It stands on all 17’s. The traditional blackjack games at Resorts permit the player to re-split aces one time. 

Tropicana

The eight-deck games start at $10 or $15, depending on the time and day. The options are a traditional game that hits soft 17 and Spanish 21 that stands on all 17’s. Games that stand on all 17’s and deal six decks start at $50. 

Wild Wild West

There is only one type of blackjack game dealt at Wild Wild West. It uses eight decks. The minimum bet is $15. Players may re-split aces once. The dealer hits soft 17.
