Roulette is a major table game in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In most casinos, blackjack is the only game with more tables.
Roulette plays differently between the cities. Here are some ways.
No triple zero roulette in Atlantic City
In 2016, Venetian and Palazzo introduced triple zero roulette to the world. It started at one table in each casino. Today, about half the roulette tables at those casinos have three zeros.
Within a couple of years, every Las Vegas Strip casino had at least one 000 roulette table. Today, all but one does, as Tropicana Las Vegas removed its lone table after cutting its pit size in half.
There is even video triple zero roulette in Las Vegas. It is at the airport and Caesars Palace. Several other casinos once had video 000 roulette. Most are gone now.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that Venetian and Palazzo introduced 000 roulette. It also made 6/5 blackjack a normal Las Vegas Strip game.
No European Roulette in Atlantic City
Las Vegas has European Roulette. That is single zero with la partage and a few French bets. La partage is when even money bets only lose half when the pill lands in the zero pocket. It is like surrender in blackjack.
There are no European Roulette tables in Atlantic City. However, there are single zero roulette tables there. The even money bets lose entirely when zero is called in those games.
Atlantic City has la partage at double zero tables
While there are no European Roulette tables in Atlantic City, la partage exists there. It is at double zero roulette tables. That makes the even money bets pay better at Atlantic City double zero roulette tables than at single zero ones. At 00, red, black, odd, even, high, and low, have a house advantage of 2.63%. It is 2.7% at Atlantic City single zero tables.
That is a difference of $0.07 per $100 wagered. That may not seem like much, but at the common $100 minimum at Atlantic City single zero roulette tables, it adds about $5 an hour to the theoretical losses.
In Las Vegas, no double zero roulette tables have la partage. It is only available at single zero tables. Some 0 roulette tables in Las Vegas do not have this rule. On the other hand, every Atlantic City 00 roulette table has it.
Minimum bets as low as $2 in Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Strip and Atlantic City casinos have similar minimum bets for casinos. Players can expect to find $15 minimum bets. Some are $10, $20, or $25.
However, players don’t need to go far from the Strip to find cheap roulette at live tables. Off-Strip casinos deal $5 double zero roulette. That is also found at a couple of downtown ones. There are casinos in the locals market with $2 and $3 roulette.
There are no $5 roulette tables in Atlantic City. The only options for limits that low are stadium and video versions.
Online roulette is legal in New Jersey
New Jersey has legal online casinos. All have online roulette. Most have both single and double zero tables. Single zero tables are usually called European Roulette. Double zero tables are usually called American Roulette. European Roulette tables at online casinos don’t usually have la partage.
American Roulette tables often have a minimum bet of $0.10. European Roulette often starts at $1 a spin.
Most New Jersey online casinos have live dealer games. These are usually double zero tables with a real dealer, wheel, and ball. Some New Jersey live dealer tables broadcast directly from an Atlantic City casino floor. Online players make virtual bets while live ones on the casino floor put real chips on the felt cheering on the same wheel.
Nevada does not have legal online casinos. Las Vegas roulette players must go to a casino for action.
